THE VISION.
Girls of Hawai‘i is a Reel series dedicated to celebrating the women who call these islands home. We want to highlight your stories, your passions, and your everyday lifestyle—whether that’s surfing, art, school, work, fitness, family, or creativity. Hawai‘i is filled with inspiring women, and this project is about giving you the space to share your voice and show what life here looks like through your perspective.
HOW WE CREATE IT
Each Reel is personal and authentic—shot and told in your own words. You’ll share clips of your daily life along with a voiceover or short talking segment where you introduce yourself and your story. The combination of visuals and narration allows your personality and lifestyle to shine.
We can create your Reel in a few different ways:
Film Yourself & Send Clips – Capture moments from your daily life, add a quick voiceover, and send everything over. We’ll edit and finalize it for you.
Create Your Own Reel – Put together your own 30 sec – 1 min video, then we’ll help polish and finalize it so it’s ready to share.
Work With Us – If you’re on Maui, we can film your story together. On another island? We’ll help connect you with someone local who can film for you.
The goal is simple: create a high-quality, authentic video that represents you and your life here in Hawai‘i.
INTERESTED? LETS WORK TOGETHER!
If you’re living in Hawai‘i, we want to feature you! This series is for all women—whether you’re an athlete, artist, student, or entrepreneur. The only requirement is that you’re here, living island life in your own way, and willing to share it. Reach out to us!

NOT SURE WHAT YOU'D DO IN YOUR VIDEO?
Maybe one of these roles suits you! We are looking for:
Model – A “day in the life” of modeling in Hawaiʻi. From castings to shoots to your downtime routine, show us how island life shapes your style.
Chef / Foodie – Take us into the kitchen or out to a local spot. Show how cultural traditions inspire your cooking or share your favorite island recipe.
Photographer – Behind the lens, behind the scenes. What inspires your art? How do you capture Hawaiʻi and make a career out of photography here?
Student / Recent Graduate – Share what it’s like growing up here. School, sports, friends, or stepping into adulthood in the islands.
Foiler / Surfer – Take us on the water! How has foiling or surfing shaped your lifestyle, and how do you see the sport evolving in Hawaiʻi?
Mom – Real mom life with keiki — from everyday routines to the joys and challenges of raising kids in Hawaiʻi.
Business Owner / Creative – How did you start your business or brand? What’s it like to build a career in Hawaiʻi while balancing island life?
Artist / Designer – Show us your creative process. How does Hawaiʻi inspire your art, music, or fashion?
Dancer / Performer – From hula to hip-hop, performance is such a big part of culture here. Share your passion and what it means to you.
Athlete / Fitness Enthusiast – Whether you paddle, run, skate, or train, give us a peek into your routine and how you stay inspired by the outdoors.
Environmental Advocate / Ocean Lover – Share your work or passion for protecting the land and sea. What motivates you to care for Hawaiʻi?
REQUIRMENTS
To keep all the Reels consistent and high-quality, here’s what we ask for:
Length – Your video should be 30 seconds to 1 minute long.
Quality – Ideally filmed vertically by a professional — but it doesn’t have to be! We just want clear, beautiful clips that showcase you and your lifestyle. Film in at least 1080p HD and 50fps or higher so we can use smooth slow-motion when needed. Use good lighting. Keep your phone steady with a tripod, prop, or by asking a friend to film.
Selfie Clip – Include at least one selfie-style clip where you introduce yourself on camera.
Voiceover / Talking – Every Reel needs your voice. You can record a short voiceover, or talk directly to the camera for part of your video.
QUESTIONS?
Do I have to be from Hawai‘i?
No—you just need to be living here.
What should I include in my video?
At least one talking or voiceover section where you share your story, plus lifestyle clips showing what you do.
Does it have to be professional?
We’re looking for high-quality footage, but that doesn’t mean you need a film crew. A phone with good lighting and steady clips is perfect.
Can you help film?
Yes! On Maui, we can film directly. On other islands, we can help connect you with people interested in filming.
What can I talk about?
Anything you want—your passions, work, lifestyle, or what living in Hawai‘i means to you.
Do I have to wear NOHONA suits?
No! You can absolutely wear whatever you want or rep any other brand or sponsor you’d like.
Is there compensation?
At this time, we’re unable to provide monetary compensation—but we’d love to gift you a NOHONA suit of your choice as a thank-you for being part of the series!
